The Achievement of USAIDS Tusome Pamoja in Improving Early Grade Reading Skills in Primary Schools in Morogoro Municipal

Following establishment of the low reading and writing levels among primary school (UWEZO, 2013), three projects were designed to test possible programs raise levels. These included EQUIPT literacy program, LANES Tusome Pamoja programs. They ran parallel in Tanzania, each operating separate districts focus. operated Mbeya, Zanzibar Morogoro. The aim this study was evaluate achievement program improving ability standard two pupils schools. Only 4 involved study. sample constituted 89 respondents including teachers, head schools 81standard pupils. Data collected through Morogoro municipality testing, interviews, observation, questionnaire documentary review. help Microsoft Excel Program, Word, SPSS, content analysis analyzed data. Findings revealed that, teachers are not well prepared teachers’ colleges. Most who teach interested with carrier development. There some intervention programs, which teacher’s teaching reading. especially important, as they specific early grade skills. It also faced a number problems shortage resources, poor cooperation from parents lack food program. recommended that owners should prepare in-service education seminars enhanced skills Tanzania.
